We answer our own phone. Anyone who quotes an exact price for a locksmith job without asking questions is either guessing or setting up a change of price on arrival. Both end badly for you.
What actually determines the cost is a short list: the time of day, the distance, the kind of door or vehicle, the grade of hardware involved, and the condition of the frame around it. Two lockouts on the same road at the same hour can be genuinely different jobs.
So the conversation on the phone is a couple of specific questions and then a range you can rely on. It takes a minute, and it means the number you hear is the number you pay unless the situation turns out to be materially different from what was described.

Why King Township Is A Little Different
Most locksmith advice online is written for a dense suburb. King Township is not one. Long driveways, detached garages, barns and workshops, properties where the nearest neighbour is not close, and a village core with century houses whose frames have been moving for a hundred years.

Ask for the legal name of the business, expect a marked vehicle, and expect a written invoice. We meet all three, and any locksmith who cannot is one to avoid.
Do you charge just to come out?
There is a callout component in any mobile trade, and it is included in the range we quote on the phone. There is no separate surprise line on the invoice.
Can you help if I am not sure what I need?
That is most calls. Describe what is actually happening at the door and we will tell you the likely cause, including when the answer is that you do not need a locksmith at all.
