Emergency Locksmith King City
Locked out of the house, the car or the shop? We are mobile, we answer the phone at three in the morning, and we open the door without wrecking it.
The call
What Happens After You Dial
No dispatcher, no script, no “a technician will call you back”.
An emergency locksmith call is not a normal service booking. You are standing outside, it is probably cold, and the only thing you want to hear is how long. So that is the first thing we tell you — a realistic window, based on where you actually are, not an optimistic number designed to stop you calling anyone else.
The second thing we tell you is the price. Not a teaser rate that changes when the van pulls up, but the range the job falls into once we know three things: what kind of door or vehicle, what kind of lock, and what time it is. If the situation turns out to be different from the description when we arrive, you hear about it before any tool comes out of the bag.
The third thing is who is coming. A marked vehicle, a technician who can tell you the company’s legal name, and a written invoice at the end. Those three details are the difference between a locksmith and the operators that have given this trade its reputation.
Step by step
From Your Call To Your Door
01
You describe the door
House, car, storefront or unit. Whether the key is broken off, lost, or simply on the wrong side of the door. Whether anything is still running inside.
02
We quote and dispatch
A price range and an arrival window before we move. The nearest technician takes the job, so the estimate reflects a real drive, not an average.
03
Non-destructive entry first
Picking, latch bypass, or decoding and cutting a key on the spot. On a standard residential deadbolt this is almost always possible and the lock keeps working.
04
You get an invoice
On paper, with a business name on it. If we replaced anything, the old hardware stays with you and the new hardware is explained.
What we open
Every Kind Of Lockout
The technique changes completely depending on what is in front of us. The promise does not.
House lockouts
The most common call in King City by a wide margin. A self-locking door, a snapped key, a spare that never existed. Standard deadbolts and knobsets open without damage.
Car lockouts
Keys visible on the seat, in the trunk, or genuinely gone. We open the vehicle without prying the frame or scratching the paint. See car lockout service.
Business lockouts
A storefront that will not open on a Saturday morning is lost revenue by the minute. Commercial cylinders, mortise locks and aluminium storefront hardware are all covered.
Broken key extraction
A key that snapped in the cylinder is not a lock replacement. In most cases the fragment comes out and the lock survives — provided nobody has already dug at it with a screwdriver.
Rural properties and outbuildings
Kettleby, Pottageville, Ansnorveldt and the concession roads. Barns, workshops, gates and padlock hardware that most urban locksmiths never touch.
Safes and cabinets
Combination lost, dial spinning freely, electronic keypad dead. These take longer than a door and the approach depends entirely on the make, so we ask for the model before quoting.
Non-destructive entry
Why Drilling Is The Last Resort, Not The First Move
A drill turns a fifteen-minute lockout into a hardware bill. It destroys the cylinder, it often damages the door face around it, and it means you are paying for a replacement lock you did not need an hour ago.
A pin tumbler lock — the kind on almost every front door in King City — is designed to be openable by the right key, and a skilled locksmith can replicate that mechanically. Picking, raking, bypassing the latch through the gap, or decoding the cylinder and cutting a working key on site all leave your lock exactly as it was.
There are honest exceptions, and we name them before we start. High-security cylinders with anti-drill pins and hardened inserts are built specifically to resist these techniques. Some electronic and smart locks have no mechanical override at all. And a cylinder that is already badly worn may not respond to anything clean.
What you should expect from any locksmith
✓ A price before the work starts, not after.
✓ An attempt at non-destructive entry on a standard lock.
✓ A clear explanation if drilling is genuinely necessary.
✓ Your old hardware handed back to you if it is replaced.
✓ A written invoice with a real company name on it.
If any of those five are missing, stop the job. You are not being served.

Nights, weekends, holidays
The Hours Nobody Else Answers
Most lockouts do not happen at two in the afternoon. They happen when you step out for firewood at eleven at night, when the last person leaves the shop on a Sunday, when you come off a late shift and the fob has stopped talking to the car.
We run around the clock, including statutory holidays. After-hours rates are higher — that is true of every trade in Ontario, and any locksmith who claims otherwise is making it up somewhere else on the invoice. What is different is that you hear the after-hours number on the phone, before we drive.
Winter matters too. A frozen cylinder is not a broken cylinder, and a door that suddenly will not latch in January is usually a frame that has moved with the cold, not a lock that has failed. Knowing the difference saves you the cost of hardware you do not need.
Why it happened
The Lockouts We See Again And Again
Self-locking doors
A storm door or a spring-latch entry that locks behind you. Stepping into the back garden for thirty seconds is the single most common way people end up outside their own house.
Worn cylinders
A key that has needed jiggling for months finally stops turning, or snaps. The warning signs were there for a year; the failure takes ten seconds.
Frames that have moved
Common in the older housing around the village core and on century farmhouses. The deadbolt no longer meets the strike, so the door has to be lifted to lock — until one day it will not unlock either.
Nobody knows how many keys exist
After a move, a renovation, or a tenant change. A lockout is often the moment people realise they have no idea who else can open their door.
Fobs and dead batteries
A proximity key with a flat battery leaves you standing next to an unlocked-in-theory car. Most vehicles have a hidden mechanical override; most drivers have never found it.
Snow, ice and swelling
Cold contracts metal and damp swells wood. A door that closed fine in September can bind badly in January, and forcing it is how frames get destroyed.
Two Minutes That Might Save You The Callout
Walk the perimeter. A back door, a garage side entry, a basement window that was never locked. It works more often than people expect, and it costs nothing.
Then check whether anyone else has a key: a partner at work, a neighbour, a family member, the property manager. Twenty minutes of waiting is cheaper than an after-hours callout.
What you should not do is force a patio or UPVC door. Prying at the frame turns a lockout into a frame repair, and that is a far bigger bill than the one you were trying to avoid.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can you actually get here?
Twenty to thirty-five minutes across King City village, longer for Nobleton, Schomberg, Kettleby and the rural concessions. We give you a real window based on where the nearest technician is.
Will you damage my lock getting in?
In most residential lockouts, no. A standard deadbolt or knobset opens without damage and keeps working afterwards. High-security cylinders, some smart locks and badly worn mechanisms are the exceptions, and you hear about it before we start.
What do I need to prove it is my property?
Photo ID with the address, or a lease, or a utility bill. If your ID is inside, we can usually work with a landlord, a property manager or another occupant who can vouch and produce documentation.
Is there an extra charge at night?
Yes, and every honest locksmith in Ontario has one. The difference is that we quote the after-hours rate on the phone before dispatching.
My key snapped off in the lock. Is the lock finished?
Usually not. A clean extraction leaves the cylinder working. What ruins it is somebody attacking the fragment with pliers first — that scores the plug and can turn a simple extraction into a replacement.
Do you cover the rural concession roads?
Yes. Kettleby, Ansnorveldt, Pottageville, Laskay, Snowball and the concessions are all in our regular area. The drive is longer and we say so honestly when you call.
